Painan City now has two locations Free Wifi Hotspot for the internet which has been active since of 03 November 2012. Free Wifi Hotspot is a collaboration between the Ministry of Communication and Information through BP3TI (Balai Penyedian dan Pengelola Pembiayaan Telekomunikasi dan Informatika) and Departments of Transportation, Communication and Information of Pesisir Selatan District, in order to hold a internet public access services to KPU/USO (Kewajiban Pelayanan Universal/Universal Service Obligation).

Free Wifi Hotspot locations are located at Departments of Transportation, Communication and Information Office in Sago and Archives and Library Office in Painan. All of the Pesisir Selatan communities can enjoy the service for free while still within reach approximately 1 kilometer from both the hotspot locations.

How to use this service of Free Wifi Hotspot, connected Wireless Network with the name "BP3TI-JALIN-KPU/USO". Once connected, open the internet browser. It will be automatic connected to the web of Ministry of Communication and Information that prompts entry form username and password.

If you have never used the service, select "Sign up". Then please fill in the registration form available with data the actual self. When you have finished then can use the internet.

"Use this free internet facility is good and positive for development, learning, and information that is useful for Internet users. Due to the internet is like a double-edged sword, that can be beneficial or detrimental," said Head of Communication and Information, Departments of Transportation, Communication and Information of Pesisir Selatan District, Drs Berlian, MKom.

"Do not use the internet for things that are harmful such as pornography, racism, hacking, pishing, and others, which will be detrimental to the users personally," added Berlian, as quoted by the web of Pesisir Selatan District Government, Rabu (06/02/2013).
