Langkisau Festival is a tourism event held every year by the Government of the Pesisir Selatan District, West Sumatra Province. In this annual event, held various activities that combine sport and arts and culture, with the aim to promote the potential of tourism in the Pesisir Selatan District.

Langkisau Festival has been held 10 times, last in 2012. Historically, of course, much older than the Tour de Singkarak already worldwide, who were held in 2009. This was disclosed by the Vice Governor of West Sumatra Province, Muslim Kasim in the opening Langkisau Festival 2012.

Langkisau Festival 2012 was opened by the State Minister for Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Syarief Hasan on June 5, 2012 in GOR H Ilyas Yakup, Painan. The opening of the festival that was held until June 14, 2012 was attended by Chairman of the Parliament (DPRD) of West Sumatra.

"I wish Painan can be taken one hour from Jakarta, then I would choose to settle in Painan. Has beautiful natural scenery, the town organized, preserved culture and society welcome make us feel at home in this small town. Congratulations to the Pesisir Selatan," Syarief Hasan said at the time.

In Langkisau Festival 2012, held various events and competitions. There is a cultural parade, paragliding race, selaju sampan (boat) race, renang samudera (swim the ocean race), fun bike, dance festivals, Minang pop songs competition, arts attractions, panjang pinang (mounting nut) competition, fishing on the high seas, as well as exhibitions and fairs.

There was also a band festival, marching band festival and solo song competition between high school, and photography competition and the selection of tourism ambassador (Uda and Uni of Pesisir Selatan District). In Langkisau Festival 2011, was also held cultural parade by the citizens of 12 sub-districts in the Pesisir Selatan District.

Then there are local cultural events, such as randai festival and mangaik mungkuih competition. Mangaik mungkuih, or shooting mungkuih fish has become a local tradition of Pesisir Selatan District. These fish live only in rivers, are found in the river on the Pesisir Selatan District. In Langkisau Festival 2012, the mangaik mungkuih competition was held at the Batang Pelangai, in Ranah Pesisir Sub-District.

Langkisau Festival 2012 also feel more special with the inclusion of the Pesisir Selatan District in the bike race route of Tour de Singkarak 2012. All competitors entering the Pesisir Selatan District in Stage VI on June 9, 2012, in conjunction with the implementation of Langkisau Festival 2012.

In Stage VI, start conducted in Padang Pariaman with a path length is about 130 kilometers. Then finish Painan City, right on the home page of the Pesisir Selatan Offices Regent, having previously through routes around Painan City. After the finish, also held cultural events of rabab pasisia, kudo rantak dance, and tour of Pesisir Selatan culinary.

For the year 2013, the Langkisau Festival planned to be held in conjunction with the Rural Development Expo (PDT Expo) in 2013 from the State Ministry for Rural Development of RI. The exhibition will be attended by hundreds of districts across Indonesia lags. The event is certainly going to be a promotion for the Pesisir Selatan tourism.

According to the plan, Langkisau Festival 2013 and PDT Expo 2013 will commence on 15 April 2013. On occasion, will also be celebrated the anniversary of Pesisir Selatan District, due on April 15 will be set as the date of birth of the Pesisir Selatan District.
