PESISIR SELATAN DISTRICT is one of 19 districts/cities in West Sumatra, with an area of 5749.89 km2. Regency Pesisir Selatan Region is located in the southern part of West Sumatera Province, stretching from north to south by 234 km long coastline.
Pesisir Selatan District, the north is bordered by the city of Padang, the east by the District of Solok and Jambi Province, south of the Province of Bengkulu and the west by the Indonesian Ocean.
Pesisir Selatan District population in 2008 amounted to 433.181 inhabitants (213.462 souls of men and 219.719 women's lives).
